"I had a lot of problems with this book. I wanted very much to like it and I did not know that it would be an awesome and heartbreaking experience. I was ready and excited. I guess I could sum the experience up best by stating that it is unlikely I will read another book by this author, and if I do it will be sometime in the future when I forget how utterly disappointing I found this book to be. "I read through about a quarter of The Bronze Horseman before physically throwing the book in the trash. Nothing but page after page of detailed sex scenes, followed by inaccurate portrayals of Sweden so glaring that even a junior high school student doodling in a journal would have caught them and fixed them."

"This book was immensely popular, and I am mystified as to why. The pacing is slow, the descriptions are shallow, the characters are poorly fleshed out. It's so sappy and sentimental, even for a romance. It's the literary equivalent of a glurgy email forward. What a waste of reading time."

"I first read this book in high school as part of the required reading curriculum and really didn't get a lot of the nuance and undertones of the imagery. Now, having read it as an adult, I can better understand why Fitzgerald wrote the way he did. It's a superbly crafted love story set in an interesting time period with intriguing characters - definitely worthy of being called a classic!"

"A post WWII family drama that takes place in England. This novel has such well developed characters, I felt like they were people in my world by the last page. Its messy and dramatic as family life is for so many. A definite page turner."
