I found Rickie, the main character, to be very sympathetic. Watch out for the homophobic Renate! I suppose some readers will find this character too over-the-top, but other readers have known people like her in real life. "

This book is beautifully written and May Archer shows how love is universal when you find the right person. The story was balanced, engaging, and will take you on an emotional roller coaster. My only complaint is that the book left me wanting more from Archer. I hope she continues writing empowering novels like this one."

There is no such thing as "ordinary," and the book does a good job at explaining that. However, the author talks about chromosomes, karatypes, and variations that make this book a bit too difficult to comprehend. I think there are much better books with LGBT characters out there than this one."

"This is a young adult book, written about a homosexual teenager who is still in high school. If the hero of this novel was a lonely girl, then the story would be one that is an archetypal tale of shy, initial steps into romance that is repeated over and over again. Just replace the "lonely girl" role with that of a "lonely homosexual boy" and you will understand the gist of this book. This book is well-liked by those who have read it, thus making it a good candidate for this category of "best books with LGBT characters"."

It followings the life of a transgender girl who struggles with her past while trying to adjust as the "new girl" at a new school. The setting and circumstances were well written, and felt like a very genuine representation of real world problems transgender people face. "

"The book is a rather interesting read. The addition of unicorns and their mystical powers certainly makes the book seem more interesting than it could really be. The love story in the book is certainly relatable whether you're straight or gay. It is a story of forbidden love and adventure. The whole concept works wonderfully despite the obvious differences in theme. I would recommend this book, especially to LGBT teens since I think this book has some characters in which they can find inspiration in. "

"To be honest this was my first foray into the world of Yaoi manga, and all I can say is OK. Now this was very graphic, which I can understand in a comic, but there was little story to go with all the sex in this book. Not to mention the "bottom" in this book seemed to be "loved" against his will at times. I do not think that is ok even if it is a norm for this type of genre. I did like the art style of this manga.
