"Charming and wonderfully written by a great American novelist and poet. The book is witty, whimsical and light-hearted, yet at times delves deeply into the hearts and souls of its characters. The prose is elegant and fluid, and the tone is slightly ironic, playful and tender. And you can actually feel the love the author has for New England, and Rhode Island in particular. A personal and inspired look at life and love and the magic in the air."

"I may go against the grain with this one. I'm not a fan. I found the story to be extremely boring and predictable. Which this is very uncharacteristic of Janet Evanovich and Dorien Kelly. Hopefully this doesn't change my opinions on other books by them. "

"I was excited to read about my home state in Home Fires, but after finishing, I would have to say that it definitely isn't one of the best books with Rhode Island as a setting. The story is pretty bland, and it the setting of Rhode Island doesn't really factor into the story. Any state could have been substituted in and the story would be the same. Disappointed."
