"This is a great novel to help people understand the true ramifications of bullying and what a toll it can take on a person. There is a tv show that corresponds to the book, but I found the book to be better overall. The character development is better and I just feel like it goes into more detail. This book can definitely help people understand better the experiences of those battling depression or bullying and how damaging it can be for them. "

"I read this book in highschool and at the time found it very relatable. There's a bit about depression and mental illness but it's also about being quiet and doing what you like and finding people that accept it. I liked it a lot. Kids these days will probably just watch the movie though."

"A truly compelling true story of the struggles that people with depression have. Wurtzel is masterful in her story of fighting depression and suicide. I think most people have been in, or know someone who has been dealing with depression issues that Wurtzel explains in the book. Highly recommended for those who have been through or know people who have been dealing with depression."

"In Girl, Interrupted, Susanna Kaysen tells the story of her two-year sojourn in a psychiatric hospital. She tells about her fellow patients and her and their diagnoses and treatment. This all started in 1967, so the changing views of what's appropriate for a young woman further complicates what's expected of Susanna as a psychiatric patient. The book is told in a series of vignettes and has a non-linear structure, so it's rather hard to follow. If you stick with it, it's worth reading. If you require your books to have a well-defined beginning, middle and end, you may want to give this a miss."

"This book was not at all what I was looking for and I'm not sure why it was suggested when looking for books about depression. I didn't read the title well when I purchased it but I'm guessing Depersonalization is close enough to depression that I just overlooked it wasn't what I wanted. I didn't read the whole thing because it didn't address my concerns or have the information I was interested in. Don't be like me and buy this on accident. It is NOT about depression."
