"I really liked the setting of this book, but the characters didn't really grip me as much as I had hope. There is good storytelling here for sure. In it's category I would rate it as a good read."

"This is a really good mystery that goes deeper than most. It actually challenges the reader to think about what they're reading rather than just let you get away with skimming and barely absorbing anything. It's great! I really enjoyed it. "

"Found this via Goodreads, and then had to check it out first. Once I read it (and the other two story collections), I knew I was going to have to buy it. Delightful writing coming from such young authors! If you are a lover of fairy tales or folklore in general, this is one to enjoy over a cup of tea or cocoa. I actually cannot pick a favorite - each story is engaging and inventive. Sure, you could read this to your younger kids, although some of the allegorical themes might go over their heads for a while - but for adolescent kids I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to augment (or redefine) their fairy tale experiences."

"I have read this book before for an English class and it was very well written. It is very highly reviewed and sells a lot of copies on Amazon. It is often compared by other readers to such great hits as the Harry Potter series."

"The perennially bestselling, extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, “nothing short of spectacular” (Entertainment Weekly) memoir from one of the world’s most gifted storytellers. The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered. The Glass Castle is truly astonishing—a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family."
