"I had read "Antonia" and like it a lot. Thought this would be a good next Cather read. Not as good to my tastes as Antonia, but a good read for having been written that long ago."

"Willa Cather is not a very popular artist. This is most likely her best book. The book has very little reviews, but has 4 stars. "

"I guess this is just a matter of opinion, but as a big Willa Cather fan, I have to say that My Antonia should be on this list. This is a great collection (O Pioneers! is a classic and should be read by everyone). But my personal favorite of hers is My Antonia. So, enjoy this three-set (it's great). Then buy just one more.......okay? "

"Although I would classify The Song of the Lark as a classic and a good book by Willa Cather, I can easily say it's not her best. This doesn't come close to being near her very best, My Antonia, so though good, I would struggle to put it into the best of category among her books."

"This was an okay book by Willa Cather. Instead of being a novel in itself, it's more of a group of essays. Through reading them, you can see her overall philosophy in life which shapes the way she writes her literature. Overall, I found the content a little boring and deep."

"I have a big fan of Willa Cather and have read nearly all her novels. But my favorite is Shadows on the Rock. It's a historical fiction novel based in 1600's and she beautifully described the plight of women who struggled to adapt to a new world while they were still bound to the artifacts and manners of their past."

It centers around the life of Professor Godfrey St. Peter. He visits his former house and is reminded of his former life and all the people he has loved. This fits the topic extremely well."

"I would rather be linked to one of Willa Cather's novels. It would mean more to me than a book by her on writing books."

"I suppose that "best" is subjective. When I sought out the best books that Willa Cather had written, this initially seemed like it could fit the bill. This is where the subjectivity comes into play. I find best to be based on the quality of the book on the whole. Some might find this read to be one of her best, as it is very unrefined, and raw. However, I focus on the lack of character development, and overall "green" feeling that this book has; to me, this is simply not one of Willa's best books, in any stretch of the imagination."

"I believe that Death Comes for the Archbishop is Willa Cather's best work. She uses a very unconventional way of telling her stories, while describing each aspect beautifully. I love the inclusion of the Native American history as their people were introduced to Christianity. "
