DID YOU KNOW?
The earliest form of games were all indie games, in essence? That is because the video game industry did not exist yet back then. There is no exact definition of what an indie game is. We can make some inference based on the current state of mainstream games though. It is not unusual for many companies to get involved in the production and distribution of a new game. One company could be in charge of game design. Another, for the production of it and another yet to distribute it in the market. Based on these facts, we can then make some key observations and comparisons with indie games. Indie games will involve a much smaller group of people. From the development to marketing and distribution, it all falls under 1 or 2 companies.
Those numbers will soon swell and would make up what we know as the gaming industry today. Game developers and publishing companies were soon established. There are even instances that they are one and the same or part of a larger parent organization. These days, regardless of what platform you're on, you'll have access to some great games. PC gaming is an interesting space due to how flexible performance can be. The better your hardware, the better your games will run. That's not to say that gaming on consoles is worse. In fact, consoles usually have better games due to exclusive game licensing deals. A great example of this would be the PlayStation 4 (or PS4) with its library of exclusive games. Its games range from RPGs, shooters, and even sports games like PS4 boxing games. Games are aplenty and you'll never run out of things to play.
