DID YOU KNOW?
Did you actually know the difference between a caricature and a cartoon? Well, to be fair, even artists lump these two together because they are similar in many ways. Most often than not, a cartoon is associated with an animated piece of film or series. But in its simplest sense, a cartoon is a virtual art form, either made by traditional drawing or cartoon making software for computers. They are often created for achieving a humorous effect. On the other hand, a caricature is a piece of art based on the likeness of a person's physical traits. A defining characteristic of a caricature is the exaggeration of the head part for the purpose of humor also.
Children have always been the target audience of a cartoon, until recently, cartoon photo apps became in. Guess who are the app users--teenagers like you. Say bye to your boring selfies on Instagram, cartoon filter apps are now available. Like the grain effect filter, cartoonizing photos has also become a trend among teenagers who are adventurous enough to see what they look like as a cartoon character. In fact, in 2014, cartoon-inspired fashion was the trend for spring. Sounds crazy right? Designer brands started releasing cartoon-inspired products. For instance, Charlotte Olympia released Sleeping Beauty-inspired pumps. And who would forget those trendy cartoon bags that seem to be an optical illusion?
