""What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets." This is just one of the many memorable quotes from this masterpiece of a game. Pair it with great level and enemy design plus, plenty of items and weapons make it one of the best castlevania games ever in the entire franchise."

"This game feels unlike any castlevania game that I have played partly due to the fact that it doesn't any belmont character at all. This is the last entry as part of a series before the franchise shifted to other things. An ode, a swansong to the old castlevania games of old, it's one of the games that have to be played to be appreciated."

"One of the best castlevania game to have come out on the Game Boy Advance. Enemy and level design are great as expected. It also had great item and weapons to play with. The best thing about the game, however, is the main character himself, Soma Cruz. His ability to gain control over fallen enemies and being able to use practically any type of weapon makes for a fun and varied combat and gameplay."

"This game was in a rather unique position in that it remained as a Japan-only exclusive for a while but many will argue that this is one of the best that the series has ever produced. It featured a gothic feel to it featuring one of the darkest and most grim visuals in the entire franchise ever."

"This DS release was one of the best entry in the series and continues the story of Soma Cruz and his battle with the dark lord. It improved and fleshed out the already great graphics and gameplay from the Aria of Sorrow as well as a better and more coherent story. It's another great handheld gaming experience."

"This was the best castlevania game that came out for the NES in my opinion. This is one of the 3 games that were released for it and the only one worth actually playing. The level design was some of the best-looking ones created in its time along with the fun and challenging enemies."

"While it was far from perfect, with the first ever Castlevania game, Konami showed how to create a great platformer that featured a spooky and gothic feel to it. Despite its age, it still holds up well and is worth getting if nothing else, to have a piece of gaming history in your collection."

"The Sega Genesis' first foray into the Castlevania series was a decent one. It drew heavily from Super Castlevania IV and made its own addition to the formula. The end result was a commendable effort by Sega to offer something fresh but lacked something to truly make it great."

"It's basically a reboot of the game franchise and the first to utilize 3D graphics design. Konami's president, David Cox himself, said that it was the most successful castlevania game since 1997. This game focuses more on creating a solid combat system and story. It mostly succeeds but at the cost of the explorative nature of past castlevania games. Exploration is quite linear and straightforward. "

"The idea of controlling Dracula himself in this sequel was a compelling thought but in the end, attempts at humanizing this iconic character felt out of place and forced. This is still a decent action game but the first Lord of Shadow was a better entry into this new series."
