Though it seems impossible for screenwriters to run out of story ideas, film studios have decided to dig into the graveyard of successful horror films a number of occasions. Countless times, we've seen familiar movie titles from way back get resurrected into the limelight. As we all know, the culture of doing remakes in Hollywood has flourished right before moviegoers' eyes. However, not all the remakes we encountered have been able to give us the scare we deserve, unlike what its predecessors have accomplished. As cliché as it sounds, you just can't beat the original, especially in the world of horror movies. And so, we enter the era of movie franchise reboots where directors get more excuses to relive a certain film by working around its crucial elements while having liberties to add one thing or another.

However, it can be disappointing for fans to see movie reboots that basically recycle its namesake's scare tactics while simply being mediocre overall. Building around the success of a movie franchise has its limits as has been proven to us many times. We've experienced way too many fake thrills by way of the worst horror movie remakes. If you remember 'The Ring' and the string of reboots it has produced, you surely know what we're talking about. Of course, there are still tons of visionary directors from the horror genre who never fail to amaze us with new hair-raising plots and creepy visuals we've never seen before. Advancing the horror genre in cinema will always be the trend. Sometimes, though, nostalgia can get the best of us. Isn't it amazing to get the same old chills from the top classic horror films that owned the genre for a long time? However, there are titles that we deem untouchables. We could only wish that they may never be ravaged on the big screen as to preserve the timeless terror it brings. In this list, we have some of the best classic horror movies that should never be rebooted.
