Hideaki Sorachi is the manga artist and author behind the Gintama series. Gintama as a manga was first conceived in December 2003. Later on, the full anime series debuted on April 2006. 13 years after the release of the manga, Gintama sold 50 million copies in 2016. The original title of the Gintama was Yorozuya Gin-chan. But the editors were not pleased so Hideaki decided to go with Gintama instead. Gintama is actually a pun taken from the Japanese word Kintama. Gintama is mainly a comedy anime with loads of episodes and notable characters.
