"I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WOULD BE INTERESTING TO READ BECAUSE IT IS A STORY BASED IN AFRICA AND IT MIXES AFRICAN BELIEFS INTO THE STORY LINE. ONE PRO ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT IT CONTAINS SIZZLING SEXUAL SITUATIONS BETWEEN ITS CHARACTERS. ONE CON IS THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT GOOD READING MATERIAL .THIS STORIES SOUNDS BETTER AS AN AUDIO BOOK."

"I've liked Maya Angelou ever since I first read her and this collection is all of her best. I don't think there's a single page I didn't enjoy. Always wise and clever, sometimes funny and heartening, sometimes sad and reflective, the poems have it all."

"I would classify this book as a contemporary literary book written by a black women, but I would not say it is the best. The book is written well and has a lot of the same struggles we as a society are facing today. The book is written is a dairy form which made it a little boring to read. "

"When I picked up this book, I could not put it down. The friendship between Archie and Samad, and how they continue to be friends after World War II, and how the book follows their relationships and families through good and bad, is enthralling to read. Ms. Smith does a good job making sure to not sugar-coat any difficult discussions that happen in these families' lives, which is important in our society. I definitely recommend reading this book if you enjoy reading about other families and their lives (even if it is fiction!)"
