DID YOU KNOW?
The DC Universe has had a long-running career of ups and downs when it comes to producing films that both hardcore and casual fans can enjoy. Of course, they can't help that they’re always compared to their rival counterpart, Marvel. Especially since people have seen Avenger's Endgame, the culmination of 21 movies over the course of a decade. But the DC Universe isn’t all bad; in fact, DC animated movies are better than the live action films. Plus, with the recent success of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam, there’s hope left still for DC fans.
But why is it that the DC animated movies are better than the DC movies? It’s because they’re a better interpretation of the comic books put in a more cohesive world compared to the live action films. To put this into perspective, let’s take a look at Man of Steel. It wasn’t a bad movie by any means. The only problem is that it didn’t capture the right tone, this was a different Superman from the way people envisioned it. Also, films like Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman, and even Justice League tried to do too much in so little time. DC’s animated movies definitely took a page from their animated series and made it better a hundred times over. The characters had a life of their own and each chapter made them more interesting. Fans felt the essence of DC through the art styles that were like the comics of old. The animated films excelled at translating the stories from the comic books to the actual film, something that the Cinematic Universe failed to do. If they manage to stick to their roots and incorporate the success of the animated films, DC can continue to flourish and finally exceed expectations.
