"breathe plus has the coolest design out of the breathing apps i've tried. being a person who values aesthetics, i stuck with it and it does the job pretty well. i just wish there were more ways to discover new breathing techniques but other than that, it's great!"

DID YOU KNOW

Did you know that, at rest, the average person breathes 16 times per minute, 960 times per hour, and 23,040 times per day without even having to think about it? The Medulla Oblangata is the part of the brain that controls respiration, cardiac functions, and other involuntary muscle movements. However, when voluntarily controlled, breathing has another function that goes beyond providing the body with the oxygen it needs for survival. Focused breathing is the best natural remedy for relieving stress, providing a person with an easy means to release tension and anxiety. It is the body’s built-in stress reliever. Yet, some studies also claim that massaging specific parts of your body may also ease anxiety. Interestingly, technology has taken over almost everything. Did you know that vibrator apps are now a thing? Instant massager!

In yogic tradition, yogis believe that a person’s breath is his life force, and so he must learn to control it in an exercise called “pranayama.” Pranayama is a combination of two Sanskrit words: “prana,” which means ‘life force,’ and “ayama” meaning ‘to restrain or control.’ When done right, breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the mouth is a proven and time-tested method of relaxation and meditation. There are many breathing techniques that can be done to relieve a person’s stress-related health problems, such as panic attacks. When paired with meditation techniques like visualization, breathing exercises can lower a person’s blood pressure and heart rate, relax his muscles, give him feelings of wellbeing as endorphins are released, and leave him feeling energized.

"As someone who suffers from anxiety, this is a very good app. It does more than just tell you when to breath in and out with some pretty little music playing; it explains how stress works and affects your body, which, to me, is very helpful in controlling my anxiety and helps me focus on my breaking. The app has different modes to rate your stress so it can help me more effectively . It also has some tutorials and results pages, which is nice. Great app."
