"A Testament of Devotion is an example of a well written spiritual book involving incorporating God more into our lives. This book is not specifically about Advent, just related to the faith in general. While it is a nicely flowing book, it is not necessarily the best example of a book for Advent."

"I love crystals and I love this book ! The author goes into great detail about the origins, meanings and healing and spiritual properties of countless numbers of crystals. It is well illustrated with pictures of each crystal. Even if you are not into spirituality and crystals this book is highly entertaining and intriguing!"

"The author writes about a "conversation" he had with God at the lowest point in his life. To most Christians, this book will be a faith reaffirming and thought provoking work; but whether the words came from God or from Walsch's own mind remains to be seen."

"I've found the best way to learn about the faith is to look backwards as well as around at the modern world. Devotionals written in the past often show a new way of looking and examining the my religion. Brother Lawrence has much to say about Christianity and the loving presence of God."

    #8A Contract With God

    A Contract With God

A contract with God is another masterwork by Will Eisner. This comic defined the graphic novel term and set the standards for a new way of storytelling with the story of a little street in the Bronx Called Dropsy Avenue. The story of common people in a common neighborhood with all the joy, tragedy, drama and fun of life.

"Eisner tells us that his goal in A Contract with God, a book that has become famous for being the "first" graphic novel, was to create an art work in which there is "no interruption in the flow of narrative because the picture and the text are so totally dependent on each other as to be inseparable" (preface). This is a hard trick to pull off. Equally difficult is the task of telling a coherent story that many readers will (unfavorably) judge using the standards that they apply to novels or short stories. Whatever else a graphic novel is, it doesn't fall in either of those genres. The graphic novel is much more impressionistic, more minimalistic, than even a short short story can afford to be."

"Although not everything in this book was relevant to me or repeatable it was still a good book to read in middle school. It gave me a lot of perspective and a look into what some of my peers could have been going through at the time."
