"The Day After Tomorrow blew my mind the first time I watched it! It really made me think of what could happen if there was such a huge natural disaster one day and it really freaked me out!! This movie is definitely the best disaster movie of all time as the film maker spared no expense on special effects, cgi and stunts! I have now seen this movie 3 times and am still blown away every time I watch it. If disaster movies are of interest to you, watch The Day After Tomorrow ASAP!!!"

"There are times I go to the movie to be uplifted and inspired...and times I go to the movies just to see stuff get blown up. For the latter times, I'd recommend Independence Day. I don't remember much about the storyline of this movie, really -- but I remember as plain as day the scenes of the White House, Golden Gate Bridge, and other landmarks being blown up by aliens!"

"Invasion of the Body Snatchers was a pretty funny movie as it is almost campy. It is more of a horror movies and not a Disaster movie. A Disaster movie would be like Earthquake. I have seen both and neither are in the same genre. If you want to see a disaster movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers where people are being taken over by aliens just isn't it."

"My wife loves disaster movies, all kinds of disaster movies, the more dire, the better. Cheesy bad acting, unrealistic science, mega-tsunamis, volcanoes and collapsing buildings, this stuff is her jam and I was so excited to tell her 2012 was up on netflix. Me? I couldn't deal with five minutes of this movie it is so head scratchingly bad, but if you are a disaster movie person, go for it."

"The Mist is a movie based of the story by Steven King. It is about killer creatures that live in an unnatural mist the closes in on a small town after a thunderstorm. It is a very good horror/thriller movie. I'm not real sure that I would call it a disaster movie, but I guess I can see how someone could. I would say it just barely fits the topic."

"I'm not sure what movie would fit the term "Disaster Movie" in a good way at all? If the topic was going for a good dystopian action-packed thrill ride, it may have been on point. But is this topic wanting a movie that was a flat out disaster? I wouldn't say that Mad Max really fits as a great solution, given its high ratings."

"On the 26th of December 2004 a massive earthquake off the coast of Indonesia sent 30-meter high waves crashing inland around the Indian Ocean, the 'Boxing Day Tsunami' as it is known is the worst natural disaster in living memory, responsible for more than a quarter of a million deaths. This is the true story of a British family who were in Thailand when the holiday of a lifetime became a frantic nightmare, lots of graphic scenes of just how insignificant and fragile humans are at the hands of mother nature. Great, underrated movie."
