DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that drumming is used for healing in other cultures? Music needs a beat to escalate the tempo of songs, whatever genre it belongs to. Drum solos are on another level when it comes to drumming as it is seen to belong on a higher tier of drum-playing. Long before, the likes of rock percussionists John Bonham and Dave Grohl existed, drumming has been used quite differently. Virtually every culture that exists on earth has practiced some form of it. In Africa, the beating of a drum continues to be an important part of everyday life. Significant ceremonies and holiday celebrations need such. Native American cultures also use it as a means to reconnect an individual’s mental and physical selves. Drumming has been an important part of performing rituals in different cultures.
"Shamanic drumming" is an ancient approach that uses therapeutic rhythm techniques. It is also known as "rhythmic healing" as it uses specialized rhythmic drumming patterns to influence people's feelings. These sound patterns are believed to remove illness or imbalance in people. Today, we see the beat of drums as an important part of music as it always is. Even though not all of us experience or are aware of this culture of "Shamanic drumming", some of us are able to use our drum-playing to release stress. Even kids can learn to play such an instrument at an early age as there are different resources to learn to play drums. People need not enroll in music school to start learning drumming basics, thanks to different drum apps that exist.
