"I bought this earthquake alarm as a precaution. My family lives in an area where the possibility of earthquakes always exists so I wanted to be proactive. I have no doubt that this device is able to detect earthquakes when one does actually occur, however it also indicates that an earthquake has occurred from such events as a swift closing of the front door or whenever little Jimmy falls down the steps again. It's completely useless because it gets set off by every movement in the house."

"Richter 10 is a science fiction novel written in 1997. This isn't a good solution for an earthquake alert system because it's a book. I read the book, it's about earthquakes but it wouldn't be useful for detecting them. "
