DID YOU KNOW?
Since videos are more immersive compared to texts and images, more and more people are getting more engaged. In fact, many other social media platforms are introducing video features. One of these platforms is Facebook. Facebook announced its Facebook Watch feature on August 10th, 2017, but it only became available worldwide on August 30th, 2018. According to multiple publishers, Facebook Watch is considered one of the largest video sharing platforms besides YouTube. In fact, Facebook video stats show that the platform is getting up to 8 billion views per day. But did you know that out of all the views happening on Facebook videos, 85% is watched in silence? An American media and technology company also claims that their silent videos get 50% up to 80% views. The high percentage of videos being watched without a sound is not very surprising to Facebook, though, since Facebook has designed a video ecosystem in which turning up the volume is not required.
Meanwhile, an article by Sarah Matista which is published on Pagemodo also claims that the majority of Facebook video viewing happens on a mobile device. As a result, various mobile apps for Facebook and other social media platforms are being developed, specifically for Android and iOS users. For instance, Facebook video downloader apps have also become of interest for Facebook users who want to experience watching videos offline or saving Facebook videos to their smartphones.
