What are the best family drama TV shows?

Drama is a genre of film and television that is intended to be serious in tone as opposed to humorous. If you think about it, most forms of cinema and television that involve fictional stories have some form of a dramatic element to them. This is achieved in storytelling with actors who represent or mimic characters. Before the dawn of cinema or television, drama was a thing entirely of its own. Something that was distinct from novels, short stories, and narrative poetry or songs. Within the context of theater, drama was a type of play that was neither a comedy nor a tragedy. This was the concept that the TV and film industries eventually adopted. So, as you can see, the term "drama" is much to broad to be able to properly convey its theme. That is why an accompanying term or qualifier usually comes along with it.

Drama has various sub-genres that use additional terms to be able to explain what its theme is about. Some of the defined ones are political drama, legal drama, and historical period drama. Then you have some that are often used in films and TV shows today. These are teen drama, police crime drama, comedy-drama, and teen drama. Another long-time genre favorite are family drama shows and movies. None of us really like drama in our lives, especially when it involves family. Yet it becomes something different when it involves someone else. What exactly is about family drama that makes it riveting to watch? We may never truly know why. So let's just watch and not ask anymore. Here are some of the best family drama TV shows to help you get your fix.

"I have always been a fan of historical movies and series so i didn't have any doubts when i watched this. The story starts with the tragedy of the Titanic in the background and how the death of the heir to Dowton will affect the lives of  Crawley family and their servants. I admit that it is hard to sympathise with the problems of the upper class thogugh, the characters are quite vivid and decent. "

"NGL i watched this show because of Jake t Austin. XD But i would recommend for parents/adults to watch this as this show feels very modern for not shying awaty from controversial issues, the teen characters act like real teens in real life plus you will learn something from each epsiode. Too bad though the series has already ended. "

"Freaking hilarious show!!! My second favorite comedy sitcom after The Office. I must say though that it's not filled with obvious jokes to make you laugh, but the subtlety of everyday situations of real life people are wonderfully depicted on it."
