"This is the eleventh book but you can read it as a stand alone. I would recommend this to someone who is interested in fantasy elements but doesn't want to read books like Harry Potter where the main characters are so saccharin sweet. If you would roll the die for a chaotic neutral character, this is a good book for you."

"This was one of the earlier Dresden Files books, and in my opinion, one of the best. The first was very popular for establishing the series, but the second is what convinced everyone Dresden was going to be something special. It really redefined the fantasy detective genre, and I think that's worth keeping in mind when you read."

"If you are looking for a solid mystery book, I would say look no further, this is a solid read. The setting and investigation are quite good, especially when the detective finds out he is dealing with a magical creature. I found the story to be well written and easy to follow, the only downside is that it is rather lengthy at just over 300 pages. It is also good if your into reading a series, this one has another 15 books in it, so it will take some time to go through it all. "
