"Of all books that you can read over and over again, the Hobbit definitely ranks as one of the top in my opinion. It is a true classic that you can read while you are young and then read again older to catch new things. Of course I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing, all time classic."

"This is not the type of book that I normally pick out but it was for my book club. And I really really loved it! The author described so many creative details that I was able to really picture myself in the circus. There was so much mystery around the plot and characters. The chapters are short which makes reading on a busy schedule easier. As I was reading I had no idea how the characters were going to work out the ending so it was a big surprise to see how it ended."

There is war and tragedy, and the added detail shifts a reader into not being able to put this book down. This book totally opened up my eyes to think about things on a different level, and gain new perspective about life itself."

"Given the difficulty of the original Anglo-Saxon (which appears on the left side (the verso side) of the pages in the printed book), this translation reads quite well. With the stanza summaries in the margins, the story is reasonably easy to follow. For those interested, Heaney can be supplemented with the Gummere translation, available for free on the Kindle. It is more difficult reading, but follows the original lines of text more closely (at least as far as I can tell), and alliterates in the manner of the original"

"I struggled through the Two Towers, when I was a youngster, and when I got to Return of the King, it went back to being a page turner for me. I could feel the end of the epic approaching, and each page seemed to last less and less. Finally, I reached the end, and instead of sadness, I discovered the glossary in the back; going through Sindarin, and getting my first taste of runes, sparked in me a lifelong passion for languages. But, also, I can get away with telling my wife, "Sevig thû úan"."
