"Based on the description of the story, this novel fits the fantasy criteria well however according to Amazon it was published in 1988, not in the 1970's."

"Another classic I put off reading for way to long. Richard Adams certainly knew how to write suspense. His rabbits are not people, they are animals with integrity and a variety of political systems that add to the mix of character building and plot twists. I recommend this book to all readers, no matter what age. And the recorded version by Ralph Cosham is absolutely perfect. He adds so much to the story with his voices of each character. Adams explains that he created the stories while driving with his children in the car and I can see why they should be told more than read."

"I tried to read this book a couple of times and could not finish it. A few years later I came across it again, and knowing that it was considered a good read, I tried again. This time I did read all of it and I am glad I did. It was very good and the time spent reading it was well worth it. I wish I would have given it more of a chance years ago."

"My daughter loves new takes on old fairy tales, and recently we found this book. While it's fairly old, much of the book still feels fresh and exciting. My daughter had a lot of fun reading it, and even doodled pictures of the characters. Anyone interested in fairy tales would love this book."
