"It is definitely interesting to read Sinclair's comments on the diet of his peers from nearly one hundred years ago. Sinclair states that he believes they eat too much and that they also eat too much processed food. Can you imagine what he would think now? Interestingly, the problems are the same, so some of the solutions are still the same as well. Although some of the information in the book is outdated, there are still some general guidelines that I find relevant. "

"Most of us who is diet-obsessed will cross this road at least once in our lives, considering fasting. Whether it is on a beginner level or an intermediate level, fasting always seems to circle around in diet and eating culture. Not so long ago fasting hit a bit of a roadblock when medical and nutritional experts denied this lifestyle, claiming that starving yourself A.K.A fasting has more harms than benefits. This book, however, has nothing to do with the modern opinions of experts. I made the mistake of assuming this book would be a get-thin-quick-scheme like I usually come across when reading about fasting. Boy, was I wrong! This book goes deeper and so far back in time that your concerns over that high number on the scale no longer concerns you. The Sacred Art of Fasting changes your mindset, it shifts the focus from how your body looks to how you're body feels. This book can be overwhelming with history and difficult Theological terms but overall it is very well researched and written. It is modernized in a way that we can apply these ancient principles in our everyday lives with practical techniques. It is a comprehensive review of the connection between fasting and spirituality from several faith confessions, seen through the prism of a Christian theologian. If you want to experience fasting the way it was meant to be experienced, in a very spiritual and self-awareness way then you should definitely give this a go."
