"This link actually leads to the wrong book. The Journal of Scott Pendleton Collins. The men in Scott's family had always served in the armed service dating back to the Civil War. He was excited to be heading over to Europe to join the forces and hunt Nazi's in WW2, but he would soon find out that war was not all about the glory, as he had thought. The dark reality of war would soon find him."

It follows the civil war from a different perspective and maintains perspective as well as including historical details in a biography form. The book is great for children but might be too low level for adults. "

"An interesting book written in diary form about a Marine in Vietnam and his sister back home who is an anti-war activist. If you want to see both sides of the coin when it comes to Vietnam then this although it is fiction will give you an interesting insight into an interesting time in US history. If you would prefer something without an anti-war message you might not like it but I still recommend you give it a try as it is a intriguing and well-written fiction biography."

"The Tiger Queens is a wonderful historical fiction about the time of Genghis Khan. Stephanie Thornton's style is descriptive and the history she shares is important and dense. She does a great job of clearly explaining the events and "putting you in the setting," so to speak. I learned a lot from this book, and I look forward to reading more work by Thornton."

"I did enjoy watching the main character grow, but it never really gelled as a "historically based" fiction book to me. Part of it is that I just don't really like the concept of royalty - if I'm going to read about privileged people coming into their own I'd rather just read fantasy. If you're into history you'll likely enjoy it much more!"
