"The Lover is a novel about a 15 year old French girl and her 27 year old pedophilia lover in unstable pre war Vietnam. It is a book of stony silence, of a family that can't express emotion. While the book has its problems it still manages to draw the reader in enough to be dignified as great literature."

"Rather than being a story about two married couples, it is indeed an tale of interracial relations, and this classic story tells the tale of romance between a single couple. This is between a Moor and a Venetian."

"What an incredible classic! To Kill a Mockingbird is truly a gem and one of a kind. I read it initially in high school and was awed and inspired by the convictions of the characters. Now as an adult, I reread it and certain aspects stood out a bit more than before. Perhaps it's my graduate degree in Feminism? Regardless, it is the first time I have read it and took into account the powerful message it sends about interracial relationships. During this time, it was unheard of. Even in today's modern world, it can sometimes be a taboo topic. I imagine I will continue to find more and more significance in this book for years to come. "

"This book was a good read. It hits on some important historical topics, like the post-WWII racism against Japanese people in the US. One of the character's obsession with the other left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. However, the descriptions are lovely and really put an image in your mind. Your mileage may vary with this book, so maybe read some reviews before picking it up."

"White Shanghai was much different from most books I read. I usually read romance or supernatural type books. This book takes place in China in the 20's, there is a lot of historical elements in this book. The writer was really engaging and made me feel I was there. It was a bit slow to start but overall very good"

"The Infinite Plan is a perfect book if you are interested in interracial relationships. It is so realistic you find yourself engulfed in the plot line. I felt like most of this book was someones life being played out in literary form, but alas it was fiction! "

"Although Shanghai Girls depicts two very different cultures, there doesn't seem to be a great deal of context around their interracial relationships. I would agree this is a great example of a fiction book in terms of cross-cultural relationships, but not interracial ones."

"I'll rate this 3.5 because I may not be the target demographic of this author. I think it would probably satisfy young adults more. A little too much flash in this author's style and not enough grittiness."
