"I found this book to have a rather stale story line to it. It is your typical warrior who is now the king, but he has to return to the battlefield to fight off some challengers. I thought that the story was well written, but not very original, also the book has been revised, with some sections removed, if this is an issue make sure you get the original. I would say that the book is well written, so if you like that type of adventure, give this a go. "

"A children's book where the main character is a black girl but I don't know if Christianity plays a part at all. It may be a good story for African American children of any religion but adults would probably not want to bother reading it."

"This is a pretty good book on Ethiopia during the Haille Sellasie reign as it follows a family that was pretty well off, and the effect the uprising has on their lives and their country. This book deals with love, faith, friendships, and the struggle to gain freedom. Although there is violence in this book, the book is very well-written and enlightening."
