"This book, while it may be a classic, is probably not a good one for a first grader unless they are pretty advanced in vocabulary and good a reading. If you are planning on reading it to your first grader it may be an okay choice but I would say it's geared more toward female readers/listeners. Overall I would say to hold on to the book and give it to your child when they get a bit older and better at reading."

"My daughter just started reading Hansel and Gretel in school (she's in first grade) and brought it home so we could read it together. Some of it's a little hard for her to understand but she's really enjoying it. I think parts of it are a little dark for a first grader, but it's definitely improving her reading skills and she's engaged in the story line. She really likes it so it's good enough for me."

"Oh, I can still remember the first time I read Charlotte's Web. I found it in my first grade library and I was fascinated by the beautiful art. As I began to read the story, it resonated deeply with my young self, and I enjoyed it immensely. It is a classic, and the themes of friendship, love, life, and death still stick with me to this day."

"Ella Enchanted is a great book for kids. Ella is a spunky young character who draws you in and you'll be rooting for her all along. I like that it has a bit more realism and a good message compared to other children's' fairy tale books. My daughter enjoyed the book a lot."
