"One of the first things you'll hear when you start getting in shape or dieting is to track ALL food that you eat. I've done this before. It's an eye opener. You don't realize just how much you're shoveling down your throat until you write every bite down. I did it on paper in a journal way back when, but now I can do it electronically, on my phone, which is convenient. First off, no one asks me "Oh, what's that...is that a journal?" if they see me carrying the food journal around. Second, since I have my phone all the time anyway, it's extremely easy to enter what I ate, my calories, etc right then and there after a meal instead of trying to remember it an hour later or even more. When you see what you're eating, it's extremely easy to get in shape and/or lose weight. And it doesn't cost a lot of money, which is always a plus. "

"When I started cycling last month to get fit while going easy on my knees, I wanted to track my sessions and went with Strava. I ended up really enjoying the versatility of the app and the many options there were for sharing information about my sessions with friends. However, this app seems to only be a good fit for running and cycling, so if you are looking to get into a different fitness activity, I would look elsewhere!"
