WHAT’S THE MEANING?
Adobe Flash Player is a computer software used to stream and view multimedia files. The flash player may come in a form of a web browser as a plug-in or a built-in feature of supported mobile devices. Macromedia was the first one to develop this technology. Yet, Adobe Systems has always received the credits since the acquisition. Adobe pioneered in the development and distribution of the said application.
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Adobe has ceased its development of Flash for all mobile devices? Remembering its golden days, Adobe Flash Player was present in almost all platforms. It includes Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS. Besides desktop platforms, some mobile operating systems also support Flash Player. But did you know that Steve Jobs of Apple never wanted Flash for iOS devices? If you are a user of iPhone or iPad, you might notice that you were not able to play flash games or videos on your device. That is because Steve Jobs never wanted Flash to run on iOS devices. An article about getting a flash for iPhone reveals Steve Jobs' open resistance to it. According to him, Flash makes the battery life of devices shorter, as it drains the battery too fast. Also, Jobs favored the use of HTML 5 instead of installing a flash browser for iPhone. As a result, Apple's resistance threatened Adobe's domination of web audio and video. Believe it not, Safari, the native browser of iPhone, does not support flash at all. Thanks to browsers such as Photon and Puffin, users got to enjoy Flash videos and games on iPad and iPhone.
