"He's a pretty popular character, so it wouldn't surprise me if others thought he is one of the best GoT characters. The fact that he died, and was revived puts him up there with some of the greats. I am not sure how the book went, and if this was part of it, but I loved the dynamic of the character. "
    • Brittany KnightWritten on April 10, 2019
"Nobody really taught that Jon Snow could be this interesting of a character. Anyway, he's still my favorite Game of Thrones character. I love Kit Harington!"

    • Jeffrey ParkerWritten on April 11, 2017
"Tyrion Lannister is a terrible character on Game of Thrones. He is a constantly undermining and ignoring others. He thinks that he is a genius who is smarter and better than everyone else and it's obnoxious."
    • Rubén ArriagaWritten on April 10, 2019
"He has suffered too much hate and ridicule because of his stature but look how he's fought back every time and how he outwitted everyone. That's why I love this character"
    • Tai SuaWritten on August 20, 2017
"I Like Tyrion,he's Matured and is Wiser and Noble now.Hes not the Scoundrel he Use to be."

    • Elizabeth JordanWritten on April 10, 2019
"I love her character and it is truly fascinating and majestic but i hate that she has sucked up all the ruling into her head. She's one of the best characters in GOT on a personality standpoint but I don't like her that much now."
    • Nelson PizarroWritten on April 24, 2019
"The fact that the show is taking a more tragic tone with her story just makes me root for her even more."

    Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister is a Game of Thrones Character who is the eldest son of Tywin, younger twin brother of Cersei, and older brother of Tyrion. He is involved in an incestuous relationship with Cersei, and is the biological father of her three children.

    • Raymond SullivanWritten on October 2, 2017
"Jaime is the older brother of Tyrion and the twin brother of Cersei. Their mother died giving birth to Tyrion. Due to his place in the Kingsguard, Jaime cannot inherit his father's lands or titles, making Tyrion his father's heir; a fact which vexes Tywin. Unlike Cersei and Tywin, Jaime always treated Tyrion with a degree of kindness and respect. Jaime began in incestuous relationship with his twin Cersei in his youth. At the age of 16, Jaime rose to the rank of knighthood. At the behest of Cersei, he consented to join the Kingsguard so that the two of them could be together in King's Landing. However, Tywin erupted in fury and resigned his position as Hand of the King, taking Cersei back to Casterly Rock with him. Jaime was appointed to the position by the Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen during the Tourney at Harrenhal. He was then the youngest man ever appointed to its membership."
    • Russell GutierrezWritten on March 3, 2017
"Sure, Jaime's kind of a bad dude for having sex with his sister, especially in light of the fact she's an evil, soulless creature bent on the destruction of the seven kingdoms. But, I mean, she's also pretty hot, and willing to "bend the knee" as it were, for him. And, he's literally a golden boy; just check out that arm! I wouldn't call Jaime my favorite dude, but I'd be adventuring with him, as long as he didn't ask me to help guard his loot train."
    • Mary RiosWritten on February 22, 2017
"If one was to try and classify the characters of the Game of Thrones series into a list of who was best, I do not believe that Jamie Lannister would be a solution to this problem. The answer is subjective at best though so it is hard to say."

    Sansa Stark

Sansa Stark is a Game of Thrones character who is is the eldest daughter of Eddard Stark of Winterfell and his wife Catelyn. Her siblings are Robb, Arya, Bran, and Rickon Stark, and her cousin is Jon Snow. She initially starts off with a very naive view of the world, but as time goes on and she and her family suffer one cruelty and betrayal after another, she becomes a more hardened and learned individual.

    • Terry BrewerWritten on March 20, 2017
"Sansa Stark is a Game of Thrones character. She's the eldest daughter of Eddard Stark of Winterfell and his wife Catelyn. In the start of the series she was very naive, but after having suffered from many betrayals, she becomes a more hardened and learned individual."
    • Terry CurtisWritten on October 2, 2017
"Sansa Stark is one of the major characters in the Game of Thrones. She has been in 54 episodes and is constantly betrayed. This has made her into an experienced and hard character. She easily belongs in this topic."
    • Harry PowellWritten on April 10, 2019
"She's one of the most popular characters in Game of Thrones at least in my circle of friends. Aside from her beauty, she's been transformed due to her sufferings which makes her more interesting"
    • Tai SuaWritten on August 20, 2017
"She's the Most Beautiful Lady of all the Women,& has Learnt alot about Human Nature,& who she can trust"

    Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister is a Game of Thrones Character. She is the widow of King Robert Baratheon and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, daughter of Tywin Lannister, twin sister of Jaime and elder sister of Tyrion. She has an incestuous relationship with Jaime, who is the father of her three children.

    • Thomas RiceWritten on October 2, 2017
"Cersei is a complex and interesting major character in the Game of Thrones universe. Calling her "best" is somewhat subjective, as she is quite arrogant, not nearly as smart as she believes, and fails to think ahead. However, she is ruthless and determined, perhaps to a fault now with the loss of her children. Morally best? Not necessarily. Best written? Definitely in the running."
    • Jeffrey SalazarWritten on June 24, 2017
"I think that Cersei Lanniser is one of the more complicated characters on Game of Thrones. At this point in the series she's lost just about everything and gained the iron throne. She's a cunning adversary and trusts no one. I feel that many will foolishly underestimate her as the series reaches its conclusion."
    • Sharon OrtizWritten on April 10, 2019
"Indeed a very complicated character and very interesting one but I hate her because she's responsible for Tyrion’s sentencing to death, indirectly killing Ned Stark, directly killing Robert Baratheon, and a lot more evil stuff"
    • Tai SuaWritten on August 20, 2017
"She use to be one of my Favs but I've lost faith in her."

    Sandor Clegane

Sandor Clegane is a Game of Thrones character also known as The Hound. He is the younger brother of Gregor Clegane (The Mountain) and was the personal bodyguard of Joffrey Baratheon until he deserted during the Battle of the Blackwater. After traveling as a fugitive, meeting and traveling with Arya Stark, and having a close brush with death, he reluctantly travels with the Brotherhood Without Banners in hope of having a greater purpose.

    • Vincent HillWritten on May 29, 2017
"The Hound (or Clegane, as the more formal characters sometimes refer to him as) is easily one of the best GoT characters. Though often crude and brutally violent, his redemption arc is extremely satisfying. In the episode Beyond The Wall, where he saves Tormund from certain death, we can see the culmination of this arc, as it seems he's finally fulfilling his greater purpose to the Lord of Light. I can't wait to see him rightfully kill his evil brother, but I think they're going to keep teasing that until next season."
    • Devansh BalasubramaniumWritten on October 2, 2017
"I love this character and he is one of my favorites. This character demonstrates a lot of growth through out the show. He starts out as one of the characters that I despised the most. As the show goes on you start to see things about him that are redeeming. He ends up playing a vital role on the side of th good guys. Doing a complete 180."
    • Patrick CrawfordWritten on February 20, 2017
"One of the best characters in the series, his story arc is incredible. He starts off as an indimidating bodyguard for a king and turns into a wandering man trying to find himself. Excellent character."

    Eddard Stark

Eddard Stark is a Game of Thrones character also known as Ned Stark. He was the head of House Stark, the Lord of Winterfell, Lord Paramount and Warden of the North, and later Hand of the King to King Robert I Baratheon. His siblings were Benjen, Lyanna, and Brandon Stark.

    • Sanvi JhadavWritten on October 2, 2017
"This is a great little series of videos to help more easily understand the often complicated family connections throughout the series. The commentary in the video in fairly basic, but it is reminiscent of an early college analytical essay. The narrator could add a bit of pep to her voice, and the background audio is a bit mismatched. It does offer some interesting insight and provides some humorous commentary from the show as well. "
    • Gregory HartWritten on February 4, 2017
"I always thought Ned was a good guy, but he went and lost his head. His nobility was only surpassed by his stubbornness, which led to him widowing his wife and orphaning his kids. Sure, Arya'll wreck vengeance upon Little Fingers any day now, and avenge him, but I'd of rather we had Ned sticking around, and maybe some buddy episodes with him and King Robert."
    • Peter DelgadoWritten on June 22, 2017
"Ned Stark is the "main character" of season one of Game of Thrones, brilliantly played by Sean Bean. He's the character that lures you into GoT."

    Bran Stark

Bran Stark is a Game of Thrones character whose full name is Brandon Stark. He is the fourth child and second son of Eddard and Catelyn Stark. Bran is a warg and currently the new three-eyed raven, trying to use his supernatural gifts to assist the realm in the war against the White Walkers.

    • Peter PayneWritten on February 7, 2017
"Bran's uninteresting personality is served well by becoming the new three-eyed raven. His wooden way of speaking and boring facade can now be brushed off as being mysterious, rather than just plain dull. I hope he gets eaten by one of Dany's dragons when he tries to warg into one of them."
    • Lee YangWritten on October 2, 2017
"This gives a very detailed and comprehensive description of Bran Stark. There is lots of information about the character by season. This site provides a good way to catch up on what's going on if you have missed some episodes."
    • Benjamin RoseWritten on April 3, 2017
"Another great character that takes a long time to flesh out but is completely worth following. His story is great and the end goal for his character is still a mystery."

    Samwell Tarly

Samwell Tarly is a Game of Thrones character simply known as Sam. He is a steward in the Night's Watch and is Jon Snow's closest friend. He is the eldest son of Randyll and Melessa Tarly of Horn Hill, and older brother of Dickon and Talla Tarly.

    • Harold CarrollWritten on April 9, 2017
"Sam's my guy! Not only do I see a lot of myself in him, and the torture of the redundant routine of dealing with other people's waste daily, but his fat and ugly face reminds me greatly of myself. While I'm not even half as smart as Sam, he makes me aspire to be a better person. Or, at least, find a single mother desperate for anybody and willing to settle. I sure hope the maesters don't do something bad to him for taking the books and running."
    • Heather MayWritten on October 2, 2017
"Samwell Tarly is a great character for sure. The development of the character has been truly remarkable. When he's introduced, you kind of expect him to be sort of comedy relief due to his appearance and his meek personality. You don't really anticipate him being so intelligent or helpful or to become such an integral character. I could definitely see him competing in the running for "best character"."
    • Terry PhillipsWritten on April 12, 2017
"My buddy and I were arguing about who was the best character from the show Game of Thrones. His choice was Samwell Tarly. I didn't know much about him, but I checked out his wiki page. I learned all about his character and impact on the show. However, I don't agree that he is the best character and think that there are far better options. "

    Brienne of Tarth

Brienne of Tarth, is a warrior of House Tarth, vassals to House Baratheon, and the only daughter of Lord Selwyn Tarth. She is unusually tall and muscular for a woman by Westerosi standards and developed a taste for martial activity as a child. Brienne has grown up to become skilled at arms. She is now sworn to serve Catelyn Stark’s daughters, Sansa and Arya.

    • Gregory PetersWritten on October 2, 2017
"Brienne of Tarth is a great character in Game of Thrones. She is a strong female character with many positive attributes. I enjoy watching her on the show. She is a capable warrior with good depth and an interesting personality. She is very capable and skilled in battle, making her one of the better characters on the show."
    • Dorothy RamosWritten on August 27, 2017
"Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows and Brienne is indeed one of the best characters. She is compassionate and kind and yet is a strong warrior that can best any man. She is not defined by the men around her. She is a great role model for all women."
    • Ruth LittleWritten on March 9, 2017
"Very in depth description. I think I might have to refer to this site when I start reading the book series again - I get so lost with Game of Thrones."
