"Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a good solution to a need for games involving alternative history as it is set in World War II, but with sci-fi elements. The plot held my attention as I am someone who enjoys the idea of playing through real-world historical events but with a fictional twist, especially when horror is involved. "

"Games about alternate history are far and few between but they can help stimulate the imagination. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is one such game. In Command & Conquer, Russian leadership goes back in time to restore Mother Russia to her former glory. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned, which creates a completely different timeline! This game is interesting and fun to play-especially for those history buffs who have wondered about different historical scenarios."

"WWII is pretty much where everyone turns to when they want an alternate history, but I'm certainly not complaining. It's fun and the story gives enough twists and turns that while it may not be super original, it's still plenty of fun."

"There are typos in the text describing the solution (I'm not sure if this is data pulled directly from the link somewhere), but otherwise it is a quality suggestion for the question at hand. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to include additional solutions, though (if nothing else, the follow up/prequel to this title)."

"Steamworld dig is a pretty good game, but it's not really an alternate history game like I thought it would be. I mean an alternate history would involve humans somehow, this is all just robots and it doesn't really tell you how they came to be. So robots in the west. Cowboy robots."

"It is a good but not great solution. The bioshock series is including in listings of best games at http://www.gamesradar.com/10-coolest-alternate-history-stories-games/ However Bioshock is not really clear whether it takes place in alternative histories or not at different points in the game although infinite relies on parallel universes "
