DID YOU KNOW?
Before mobile character creation games were even popular in the gaming industry, people already reinvented themselves through cosplaying. The term “cosplay” came from a Japanese recreation of the English words costume and play. The term was coined by Nobuyuki Takahashi of Studio Hard. He had invented such term after attending the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention in Los Angeles after he saw costumed fans. Shortly after that, he wrote an article about his experience for the Japanese magazine My Anime. That event is pointed to be the start of ‘cosplaying’ as most of us know.
Cosplaying has been worldly-renowned ever since. The most popular form of presenting a cosplay publicly is by wearing it to a fan convention. And take note, this is a serious business and some people travel miles and miles, and even take the time to make costumes. Some even buy them from the best cosplay websites for an expensive price! Cosplay fans have attended the San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con in the United States, and the anime-specific Anime North in Toronto. Those events are considered to be the most attended cosplays in North America alone. Yet, the single largest cosplaying event is the semiannual Comic Market (Comiket) held in Japan during summer and winter. Such event attracts thousands of anime and manga fans who participate in cosplaying. Luckily for non-cosplayers, there are different apps with character creation that can be tried to experience reinventing one’s self. These games with character creation are available in different gaming platforms for your gaming pleasure.
