"The Penguin German Phrase Book (Fourth Edition) is a great book to get you ready to speak German quickly. It’s travel sized and I was able to learn several phrases to get me going right away. I can’t wait for my trip to Germany to try some of this out! I just hope my accent is decent enough. It was missing some basic words, for example "hello" but I could figure out enough to get by "

"I use German software and Duolingo but this phrasebook expands the depth of my knowledge with just a few minutes of practice each day. There are random turns of phrases that I don't get from pre-programmed software or online. I love this book, very helpful."

"This seems to be a translated parable or sorts. This is likely a good reader for those learning this culture, but not what I am looking for here at all. I would like something more explicitly geared toward learning German and German culture instead."

"Couldn't stand the book. Was not at all what I was expecting and was bored within the first 30 pages. I didn't finish it, so maybe it gets better, but nothing made me feel like finishing it. I honestly don't even know who to recommend the book to since I can't see it appealing to anyone."

"This is truly an interesting read that tells the tale of two sisters seperated at childhood. One grows up during the nazi regime, the other escaping it. 70 years later they reunite to find how different they both really are. This book is amazing as it tells the German side of the war, something you don't read much about. Truly a fascinating read. "
