"I don’t understand why they call this book a classic. It’s a simplistic gimmicky pamphlet. It’s okay to read it - not too long and has some entertaining value. But I would be better spending this time on something better."

"A very well written book about germinating vegetables and fruits. This distant relative of Johnny Appleseed gives us a scholarly look at the transformation of apple trees across the United States. The detail makes this book tough to put down. You can read it in one long rainy day and have a few new stories under your belt. Any garden or history buff would love this book."

"Every summer when the fruit begins to come in, this book comes off the shelf. Everybody loves the Plum Applesauce, and Apricot Orange Marmelade, and I can them for use through the year. The dessert recipes have been consistant winners, the beverages are fabulous and taste great without the alchohol. I have not been as happy with some of the main couse recipes, and have made modifications to fit my tastes and have enjoyed them after my changes. Beautiful photography too."
