"Sorry, I really wanted to like Gertrude Stein, but failed to enjoy this book. I lost interest during the forward and intro, but struggled on through the 2nd chapter before bailing. The language just sounds unnatural to me and the meat of it isn't worth wading through the language."

"This the culmination of Stein's work in one book! This book is not for those seeking to get introduced to Stein's work but for those fans seeking the best of her work. No doubt Gertrude Stein is an author that requires a little bit of adjustment to and it does take some time to get through this book. I will admit that even I at times had trouble powering through some of the longer poems and sometimes it does seem as if the words are just strung together, but all in all this is the best collection of her works. "This book is quite thrilling and shows one experience of what it was like to live in that time. The only negative I can think of is that some of the more mundane troubles kind of drag on narratively, but they do support the idea that day to day problems don't necessarily go away. "
