"This book does not qualify as "gothic". It is more of a feminist story about biases towards those who are different. It is set in a high school with all the angst-y scenarios that come with being a teenager trying to fit in with one's peers. The heroine of the story is labeled "goth", but she is actually a zombie. What kinds of rights do zombies have? There is nothing romantic going on this story. This book does not fit the category of "best gothic romance books". It is nowhere near that category."
