"I'm a big fan of King Kendrick. And yet I admit it took me a while to open up to DAMN and give it an honest listen. I finally did a month or so ago, and now I love the album. So yeah, I think it's Grammy-worthy for sure. $14 on CD at Amazon. "

#2Best Rap Song: Humble by Kendrick Lamar

Best Rap Song: Humble by Kendrick Lamar

If we bet for a winner in this Grammy edition we surely do for Kendrick Lamar. His single Humble shows what a record like Damn has to offer. Dark rhythms, hard lyrics, honesty and a certain sense of danger, something that rap has lost during this years.

"It's an effective reflection of Death Grips, but personally I don't think it deserves a spot in the Grammies. The lyrics are predictable and repetitive in my opinion, and the beats are simplistic and dull. It's fine for some people, I suppose..."

#3Song Of The Year: Issues by Julia Michaels

Song Of The Year: Issues by Julia Michaels

Issues, is the debut single of the young artist Julie Michaels appearing on her first EP, Nervous System. The song has become rapidly a total hit with its mix of pop, little bit of folk and a soft touch of electronics that made the song a total success. ""Issues" isn't my idea of a Grammy Award-winning song, but Julia Michaels has definitely proven herself to be capable and talented. Hopefully her career blossoms as she starts to explore more meaningful, deeply-rooted music."

    #4Best New Artist: Khalid

    Best New Artist: Khalid

Khalid is, without any doubt, one of the new sensations of the year musically speaking. With barely 20 years old, he has debuted with one of the brightest records of 2017. A record with a lot of influences that come from Kendrick Lamar, Father John Misty, Lorde or James Blake mixed with the personal view of R&B, rap, soul-funk and rock of this young artist. An instant classic that will be setting the base for a longstanding career.

"If this style of "music" is what you care to listen to, then do so. This is hardly something I would spend money on, let alone listen to if it was free. I simply want nothing to do with this genre so typically void of any real substance."

#5Best Pop Vocal Album: Lust for Life by Lana del Rey

Best Pop Vocal Album: Lust for Life by Lana del Rey

The return of Lana del Rey has been long awaited since Honeymoon was a little deception. Lust for Life, her new record is much more uptempo and atemporal showing the talented voice of Lana. The record is more of a playlist to be let on a loop than a collection of songs and that's the best part of the record because it's more of a seduction work, mostly for the whispering and smooth voice of Lana del Rey, than a hit album.

"Bruno Mars new album "24K Magic" may be one of the best albums of the year! If you've ever seen Bruno Mars live or even performing on TV you already know what a dynamic performer he is and all of that energy comes through on the album. It rocks with several upbeat songs that will have you dancing in your kitchen and even has a few more tender numbers that will have you singing the words in the shower. This album is up for a Grammy award in 2018 and Mars certainly deserves to be in the running. He might even deserve a win for this one!"
