"This is an awesome flick directed by Guillermo del Toro, and if you have seen Hell Boy 1 or 2 you can get an idea of what you are in for. There is a lot of violence, but the story is so beautifully told that it doesn't bother me too much. Definitely not suitable for children."

"I like some del Toro films but this one is entirely overrated. It won an oscar so it's considered the best but it was a bit dull to me."

"I was really hoping this book might go into more depth than the movie did. The movie was basically a bunch of giant robots fight, because that's what looks splashy on a screen. I wanted the book to let me learn more about the characters, about the world and the background, but it doesn't. It just describes what you'd see if you sat down to watch the movie, with no elaboration or expansion. Nothing except "the big robot walked through the water, raising a fist" and so on. Nothing that let me feel more tuned into the characters and their story. I was very disappointed."
