"Okay, so I read this at the imploring of a friend, who absolutely felt I should see what it was about. I kept telling them that this wasn't my thing, but they kept insisting. So I read it, and believe me, lets just say that I was not glad I did. Just isn't my thing I guess."

"Um, well, what can I say? I've been reading Ed Lee for years now and for the most part I've loved his stories. They're gross, disgusting, outrageous and often funny. This one was just gross. I mean really gross. And the humor was sadly lacking. Still I kept reading. I finally got to the end and that's when I had my what the heck moment. It was the most ridiculous ending ever. Really? That was the big reveal? Ugh! I won't be reading this one again."

"The cliche saying do not judge a book by its cover is mostly ideal when it comes to finding books really, but this one does not cut it for me. There are more hardcore novels out there that does not look like high school random MS paint image for a cover, this one is a no go for me."

"It's not particularly well written, it's very derivative. It is, however, very hardcore. If you're looking for a hardcore horror novel and you don't mind sub-par writing, you might enjoy this book."

"This book really got under my skin. It isn't a long story, so I finished it much faster than I was expecting and spent the rest of the evening nervous. Great description, great atmosphere with a plot twist you'll enjoy. If you like your horror to leave something to the imagination rather than paint all the details heavily in, you'll really like this book despite its short length."

"Ketchum takes his time in this one, allowing the characters to drive the narrative rather than the other way around, and it works magnificently. One of my biggest gripes with a lot of books / films in the horror genre is that I don't care enough about the characters before the blood starts flying. This doesn't mean I need lengthy back stories or -- even worse -- flashbacks; quite the contrary. Often it's through a character's actions a"

"The writing certainly is an acquired taste. But if you are reading this, you know what you are getting into. The author certainly pulls on the reader's emotions with "kids" doing horrible violence to both a pet and a loved one. So the resulting outcome does solidly flow, and be prepared for what is to come. It certainly grips you by the throat and does not let go."
