DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Gangnam Style's music video was the first YouTube video to ever get more than two billion views? That's right. Korean singer, Psy broke records when his catchy song went past the two billion views mark. His video got around 2.1 billion views in December 2014. Because of this feat, YouTube had to change its view capacity. Since then, only 14 other videos were able to achieve this milestone. At the moment, See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth holds the record of the most watched music video. It beat Psy's famous music video in the top spot. The song got around 2.9 billion views on the platform and this number continues to rise. Justin Bieber's Sorry comes third with over 2.6 billion views.
Now, YouTube has become one of the go-to sources for discovering music. Artists usually drop their music videos on the platform to give people more access to their new songs. Most of the time, they release them with the help of Vevo. Almost every mainstream act have Vevo YouTube videos up on the platform. The multinational video hosting company currently works with major record companies. Among their partners include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI. There are more than 300,000 music videos in Vevo's music library. With YouTube's continuous rising popularity, it may not be a long time before the video streaming platform takes over TV and radio.
