"I love AllTrails. It's one of the best apps out there for hikers and I definitely recommend any hiker should have it. It helps you find trails in the area and it helps you stay on course, even when you think you're lost. There are some ads and locked features unless you buy the premium version, but it's so good, it's definitely worth it."

"The Ramblr is nice for shorter trips, and the GPS feature in it is great, but just know that the GPS feature will deplete your battery quickly. Have a way to keep it charged or you won't be able to record all the fun things that you want to remember via pics and videos. I prefer a separate GPS tracker for that reason. The location features and ability to map out routes is great, and if you just want a nice quiet, reflective solo hike in nature somewhere, this is a great little app to use. For more intense and longer trips, you might to upgrade to a newer version."
