"Great book but frustrating when you realize how dumb some people were in older times. This book gives you an insight to how people lived and reacted to witches a long time ago. The book also seems rather historically accurate for what it is."

    #2Joan of Arc

    Joan of Arc
This is Mark Twain's final novel, and the one the writer thought it was his better work. Even though the figure of Joan of Arc really existed, the events written on the book are fictionalized, and don't necessarily follow those in the manuscript of Jean Francois Alden.

"This book has been the "bible" for witch hunting for more than three centuries. I found the book to contain a lot of arcane detail about witch hunting that I had never been aware of before. As a historical book, there has been no better book written about witch hunting. However, be warned that the book can be challenging to read at times as some of the passages are written in a formal "old-school" English style that will require concentration to get through. I would definitely give this book a rating of a "5" as a historical book on witch hunting but only a "3" as a captivating and engaging book."

"In the Devil's Snare: The Salem Witchcraft Crisis of 1692 is one of the best historical books about witch-hunting, as historian Mary Beth Norton delves deep into the famous period of the Salem witch trials. This book contains an abundance of historical information, but I should note that this book is not the most entertaining read on the subject. Nor does it serve as an introduction to the events as it assumes a fairly advanced knowledge of the concepts and characters involved. So if that's you, then this book is a winner."

"Everyone has heard about the Salem witch trials, but no one really knows too many of the finer details. This book takes actual dialogue from trial records and really gives you a insight into how these were handled and what the thought process really was during these times. It is a horrifying look into the human mind as you try to unravel why this seemed like something that should be done to these people. This is a haunting book that may leave you with more questions after you read it than before. "
