"I am not really into romance novels but I see why they would be attractive. Here, the setting allows the novel to be considered a romance novel due to the time setting but I probably wouldn't gain much knowledge about history from this story. However the romance aspect of this novel might make it one of the best historical romance books because it's the story of a sophisticated aristocrat that falls in love with her servant. The book gives hope to all that there is truly someone out in the world for anyone. "

"I keep thinking I should love historical romances, but I just don't. It's not badly written, and is probably the best of the genre that my best friend keeps pushing on me. What can I say - it is definitely a romance (as literary romances go) and it is definitely set in a (completely unbelievable, but still literary standard) historical setting. "

"This book isn't so much bad as lacking. Historical romantic fiction is an oversaturated genre, and this sort of book is why. It's just...mundane. It does everything it's supposed to - and no good novel does everything it's supposed to. If all you want is a cheesy, paint-by-numbers romance, this book is that. I just found that, well, it had nothing else but that."

"I love a good romance book that isn't all fluff, too many just focus on the sexual aspect and forget the romance. Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways) is not like that at all. I am enjoying this series very much. They are a quick read as I don't want to put them down. There are five in the series and I am on the 4th and loving it.I have read many of Lis Keypas' books. They are romantically sensual, not beyond belief. Always a happy ending with love conquering all. What more could one want?"

The rape is base, violent, humiliating. If a man pinning a woman down and raping her makes you as ill as it does me, do not read this book."

"The final installment of the Wallflowers series delivers on all expectations. If you’re a historical drama nerd like me, this series is a must-read up with Hilary Mantel. It’s got a compelling story, but the real treat is the author’s mastery of historical details; everything from the morning routines to the speaking styles and accents of the characters is properly bespoke. This book follows the character Daisy, who I didn’t like much in the previous books but surprised and delights in this one. She gets a lot more depth and becomes very interesting, continuing to grow as a character throughout the story. But the real hero is her husband-to-be Matthew, who gets a boddess-ripper story and hidden background that perfectly match the tone and style of these books. It might feel a bit cliché to modern audiences (and I’d complain about it in a modern book) but in the historical period it feels perfectly at home, and I love it. If I have one complaint, it’s that some of the Wallflower characters have changed a bit, or aren’t treated with the care and respect they’re normally given. They have some out-of-place and out-of-character dialogues and interactions that make me feel Kleypas was starting to run dry on ink, meaning that – as much as I’ll miss them – this is definitely the right place to wrap the series up. I love how though they are from different backgrounds the women are of one mind when it comes to getting through the toughest times in their life serving during the war effort. I love that I can relate in some ways to these women who were operating in such a different time. The time spent reading is well worth it. "

"Romance is great and sometimes you just want to know what happened to your favorite hero or heroine in your favorite story. That was my mindset as I picked up M. Carmen Gómez-Galisteo's narrative, unfortunately I was left unsatisfied. As I read "The Wind Is Never Gone", I was unsure on what to expect but as I read it, it became too whimsical and explanatory. Sometimes a little mystery is good, and I came to realize that great works of fiction are wonderful for the things they have written on it but also they are wonderful for the things that are left unsaid. So next time you wonder how the story ended beyond the page, maybe you should not 'give a damn' and enjoy a great ending for what it is."
