"Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has spent ten years among the ton, passive and well-behaved and dreaming of the rakish Marquess of Ralston, who once offered some kind words to her during her miserable first season. But at 28, with her baby sister happily betrothed, Callie is finding that she can’t spend her whole life trying to be a perfect society miss, and she comes up with a list of all the things she’d like to try if propriety weren’t a question. When she decides to put that list into action, Ralston seems like the perfect person to help her get started. Very engaging read."

"This novel is a pretty good LaVyrle Spender story. It's a World War II love story that I think has a good mix of adventure and passion. I'd consider the book to be a classic romance novel at this point, because it has aged well. A decent add to your collection."

"Secret Fire is one of my wife's guilty pleasure books. It is a historical romance that spans the globe. She tried to get me to read it once, and to be fair, I gave it a shot. It just wasn't really for me. Katherine seems to be a prisoner of the prince and that sort of takes me out of the 'romance' mindset. It's a well-written book, with believable characters, but that's why I didn't care for it. I couldn't get behind the idea of this happening."

"I love two aspects of romance novels: the first of which is their historical descriptive nature and second of which a large community that agrees that the book is worth reading as well. With Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways), I got a wonderfully detailed historical fiction romance novel that allowed me to become an observer to a wonderfully designed world, I also found the others rated this book and its story highly as well."
