What are the best History Channel shows?

Have you ever wondered how history got its name? Why it's called what it is? Well, so did we. If you ask anyone what the meaning of the word is, you'll probably get answers relating to time and events. Most people would say that the word history refers to events that have happened in the past. That is all well and good but the invention of the word had other connotations in mind in the beginning. The gist of it all is that the term "history" evolved from an ancient Greek verb that means "to know". The Greek word " "historia" originally meant as both the act of inquiring and acquiring knowledge. This is intertwined with another term called stories, which is the account of events that someone will put together from making inquiries.

These two things share a common... well... history so much so that there is much overlapping between the two of them. This is to say that history doesn't always line-up with the stories that are supposedly based on them. Confusing isn't it? That does not detract from the fact that the study and telling of history is an interesting endeavor. From the page of history books to the lectures at university, history has a lot of interesting stories to tell. That's great and all but you know what's even better? TV shows based on historical facts, of course. Who wouldn't want to see these past events be brought to life and re-enacted? One cable network even has its entire line-up of program centering around history. That network is the History Channel. If you've never seen any of their programs, you definitely should. To help you out, here is our list of some of the best History Channel shows to get you started.
