DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that despite being mostly known in supporting roles, Holly Hunter actually has won a multitude of awards for both film and television? Currently, Hunter has more than a total of 24 awards for film and 5 awards for television, as well as loads of nominations for multiple categories in both mediums. Another interesting to note is that in her first big break came thanks to a chance encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright, screenwriter, and actress. She and Henley were trapped in an elevator for 10 minutes, wherein they had a nice conversation and eventually led to Hunter being cast in Henley's plays Crimes of the Heart and The Miss Firecracker Contents, the former of which went on to win the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Her film debut then came two years later with a minor role in the 1981 slasher movie The Burning, wherein she only had one speaking line. Despite being her first film, her presence in it was fairly limited, wherein her character, Sophie, was seen mingling with the main cast before being thrown back into the sidelines. After a few more years of exposure in the spotlight, Holly Hunter eventually got into more major roles in both film and television, eventually netting plenty of awards for her contribution to the industry.
