"Just caught this flick last night. IT was amazing! Growing up and watching Tim Curry's Pennywise on the TV adaptation was terrifying as a child so I was really looking forward to seeing Stephen King's novel get it's film adaption in theaters. I was not disappointed! The kids they casted did a superb job! I believed all their characters and could definitely see the visions I had from reading the book translated to the actors playing those kids. I had my doubts about how Pennywise would be portrayed but I was surprisingly impressed by the performance. The kid from Stranger Things was in here! There's a slight familiarity to Stranger things with the kids and the situation in IT but just darker overall. I'm not sure how I felt about the film changing up the controversial part of the book, concerning Beverly and the boys, but I understand why it had to be changed. Overall I think IT was one of the best Stephen King adaptions to film. I would probably rank this just below The Shining and the original Carrie. I think I'd rank it slightly higher than Christine, Cujo, Pet Semetary, and Firestarter. I'm a huge King fan and love all the movie adaptions and IT definitely met and surpassed my expectations. Oh by the way, also check out Gerald's Game! Can't wait for more!"

"The horror genre has a huge selection of classic novels. There are older examples like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or Bram Stoker's Dracula, but among the more recent examples is Stephen King's The Shining. Most people are more familiar with the film version, but the book is even better and much, much scarier!"

"Vintage King. Character development is so complete it gives this reader the feeling he is part of the story. A helpless voyeur, unable to do anything else but observe (almost like the character in "Autopsy: Room Four" from his collection, "Nightmares & Dreamscapes). Carrie's story is not only engaging, it is compelling and powerful. A young woman, possessed with unimaginable power in one of the most vulnerable times of a woman's life, struggles with the things in her life that makes her different. Her fragile ego is constantly being stressed by the ridicule she must endure and all the hateful things done to her. The story could not have ended better, though, of course, bittersweet on an incredibly horrible scale. (Incidentally, the movie with Sissy Spaceck and John Travolta is really quite good, and does not harm, whatsoever, to the book.) Of course I'd recommend buying this if you are looking for best horror and thriller books."

It becomes evident early on that Dwight has the hots for Slim, but he isn't confident enough to do anything about it. Of course, having had a few years since the last time I read this book, I'm a little more jaded to the action that was going on. I wouldn't necessarily call this a horror book, at least for adults. More like an suspense book. However, since these books ARE designed for the child-mind, I suppose creeping around in a mysterious tomb with a mummy possibly stalking you can be quite creepy."

Reading tie-in books based on TV or movies is always hit-or-miss, depending on the author's understanding and interpretation of the characters and settings; however, in this case, reading the story was just like watching an extended episode of the show.
