"Horror movies try hard to incite fear and terror in viewers, usually bey throwing buckets of blood around and having scantily clad young women make horribly unsafe choices as they half-heartedly try to escape. This movie is terrifying in a special way, it messes with your mind, and the characters seem real. The fear is that the highly cultured and polite character will finally show his evil side, and there is nowhere you can hide from someone who knows so much about you just from looking at you. The acting is amazing, and this movie is the one that I think of when I think of a truly terrifying experience."

"The quaint town of Blah is swept up in the horror of a horrific, horrible horror - yawn. I wish I'd bought a cheap pizza and watched re-runs of the Teletubbies instead of renting this movie. It would have been much scarier. The plot is tired. The characters are weak. The acting is mediocre. How this movie received three stars is mystifying to me. I can only assume that everyone who watched it fell asleep halfway through and assumed it got better at some point. It didn't."

"Jaws is the classic horror thriller. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was a child. Why someone thought this was a good film for a child to see, I don't know, but I recall the next time we went to the beach, I was too afraid to go in. Definitely keeps you at the edge of your seat wanting to see what happens next. Brilliant directing from Steven Spielberg. Highly recommended."

I wasn't sure if I would like this movie after being used to all the recent horror films that I have seen, but the production and acting is iconic, and I definitely recommend this for your next scary movie night."

"This is a good horror film; I wouldn't say it's the best, but it is an entertaining couple of hours. The premise is a little creepy (teenagers having to sleep with other teens) but all in all, it's a scary story with an original plot. I think they could have tightened up the movie some, as it kind of drags in some parts, but if you can overlook that, it's a decent flick."

This is a groundbreaking original film that may have started off the slasher genre. Grab some popcorn, turn the lights down low and get ready to be grossed out, giggle at the old school dialogue and be truly creeped out by leatherface."

"One of the redeeming qualities of this film is it was written by Rob Zombie. It has a 70s horror film feel to it and a southern rock soundtrack, so it kind of seems like a combination of a horror and a western. It's more violent than scary, which happens sometimes in the horror genre, but if I were looking for something scary, I'd probably look elsewhere."

This is an old movie, but it was pretty gruesome and ahead of it's time. There are also rape scenes, I only got through maybe 30 minutes before I had to turn it off, it was too "real" for me"
