"Hush looks like a pretty good horror movie in my opinion but I can't call it one of the best on Netflix until I see it. The idea of a deaf woman fighting for her life in a secluded area seems scary as anything, although without watching this movie I'd be hard pressed to say it is the best."

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the classic slasher film Scream is based on a true-crime story? In 1990, the small town of Gainesville, Florida, was shocked by the gruesome murders of five college students. One of the poor souls were that of Christina Hoyt who was sexually assaulted and decapitated. Her body was found in her bed, sitting upright, while her severed head was placed in a bookshelf across her. This not only caused terror around the campus, but it made the media go crazy as well. However, it is only after two weeks that the police caught Daniel "Danny" Rolling for a robbery case. Back then, the authorities had no idea that the man behind the burglary was also the serial killer on the loose. Rolling confessed to his crimes which lead to his lethal execution on October 25, 2006.

Wes Craven revealed that the serial killer's rampage inspired him to direct Scream into the big screen in 1996. This classic cult film heavily reawakened the horror genre that was slowly dying in the late 80s. With its well-received plot and famous cast, Scream was the highest-grossing slasher movie until 2018. Curious? Watch this good horror movie on Netflix and binge our other list of scariest movies for a good ol' scare!

"I don't watch horror movies, so I can't tell you what's good and what's bad when it comes to them, but this movie's on netflix and it's horror, so there's that? The soundtrack (found it on YouTube) is pretty good for this one, too."

"If you're looking for a scary movie, look no further than Geralds Game. It is by far one of the best horror movies on Netflix. It is a spin off of Stephen King and will keep you up the night you watch it. It is scarier than most horror movies I have seen recently and worth watching if you like this genre."

"One of the most well known horror films in existence, The Shining is based on a novel. I personally can't stand horror films, so I've never seen it, but it's popular for a reason. Give it a shot, I guess, because it IS on netflix! Just....maybe don't watch it with the lights off?"

"This unique story is in a setting that we rarely see in America - it takes place in Tehran, Iran. We hardly ever see this location in film, so part of the reason this may seem so jarring and disorienting is the unusual location and premise. The story itself enhances this feeling to create a sincere feeling of dread and fear. This is an excellent suggestion!"
